What it is
In a deep tissue massage the therapist works slowly and with more pressure on the deep layers of muscle and fascia.
It can be full body or partial, for one problem area.
Who it is for
- A chronically tight back, neck or legs
- People who train often
- People for whom a classic massage is “too light”
How it goes
- 1Say where the tension is and how strong you want it
- 2The therapist warms the muscles up and gradually works deeper
- 3Pressure is strong but bearable: say if it is too much

Before
- Do not eat a big meal in the hour before
- Mention injuries, varicose veins or skin problems
After
- Muscles may be tender for a short while
- Drink water and skip hard training the same day

- No massage with a fever or inflammation

The pressure is strong and unpleasant in places, but it should not be sharp pain. You decide how much.
How is it different from classic massage?
Classic is lighter and for relaxing. Deep tissue is slower and deeper, to release tension.
